Walk Along the Beach - If you stroll, saunter, power walk or run, Clearwater Beach has a three mile stretch of award winning, white, sandy beaches on which to do it.  The three mile beach is lined with a tropical atmosphere of palm trees, luxury hotels and condominiums.  All beaches are public and can be accessed from almost anywhere.  Walking at dusk is much cooler than in the day, and you will have the chance to experience our famous sunsets.  Most nights you can look up and see a cloudless sky filled with stars.  Look out across the Gulf and you may be greeted by a dolphin or two, but no dogs please.

Gamble on the Gulf  The area offers gambling at the Seminole Indian Hard Rock Casino in Tampa. Take a drive to a real life Indian Reservation and see the sights. Who knows you might walk out a winner.

Hook the Big One! - There have been many a fish story told from the docks of the Clearwater Marina.  A license is not needed to fish our waters when using one of our charter fishing boats.  Charter your own  fishing excursion aboard the Reel Deal Sport Fishing (727-430-1798) or Above Average Fishing Charters (727-365-7931). For half or full day Party Boat trips call Queen Fleet (727-446-7666) and escape into the Gulf of Mexico where you can expect to catch a thrilling variety of game fish. For flats fishing you can't beat Cap't Gary at All Catch Charters! (727 - 458-6335).  

Attend Worship Services - The Chapel by the Sea (727-446-0430) is nondenominational. Their worship service is at 10:30 A.M. on Sundays at 54 Bay Esplanade on Clearwater Beach.  Van pick-up service is available.  St. Brendan Church is Roman Catholic. They have several masses for worship beginning with Vigil Mass at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday night, and 7:30, 9:00, and 11 a.m. on Sunday morning, at 245 Dory Passage, Island Estates. You can also attend worship at area churches or synagogues of your choice nearby.

Take a Ride on the Gulf - Thrill to a refreshing, exhilarating ride in the Gulf of Mexico.  See dolphins jump in the wake of the boat or relax and enjoy a beautiful sunset while you cruise.  Boat rides are also available at the Clearwater Marina.      

Enjoy a Dinner Cruise or Two -Savor the sunset and the cuisine.

Play Wet - Both jet skis and parasail flights are available up and down the beach and at the Marina.

See Rescued Sea Life - See rescued sea turtles and otters at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium (727-441-1790), where questions are answered and sea life abounds! The CMA is home to "Winter" the world famous dolphin who lost her tail due to an accident and now learns to swim with a prosthetic tail! You can watch her in real time on the web cams page. The Aquarium features Live Dolphin Shows Daily! Learn about the behaviors of dolphins, otters and sea turtles.  This is a working rescue and rehabilitation aquarium.  Don't miss their kayaking adventures and a boat ride that takes you along the bay to a wildlife bird sanctuary island.  Learn what's really under the sea with an on-board marine biologist.  It's a "can't miss it" tour.

 Enjoy an Old-fashioned Farmers Market  Right downtown on Cleveland Street, featuring produce, flowers, baked goods, arts & crafts, and entertainment.  It's held every Wednesday, November through April from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Saturdays over the summer.

Learn to Sail -  or charter a sailboat, makes for a romantic wedding too! The Clearwater Community Sailing Center ( located on Sand Key), is perfect for those looking to sail and learn the ropes.

Travel the Pinellas Trail
- Enjoy a day of biking, skating, running or walking on our beautiful Pinellas Trail. This unique experience allows you to travel the length of Pinellas via anyway but a motorized vehicle.

Experience the Gulf the Pirate Way! - Captain Memo’s Pirate Cruise has something for everyone, young or old. Cruise away into the fantasy world of swashbucklers and pirates aboard the Pirate’s Ransom. The frequent sightings of playful dolphins just add to the excitement of a Pirate Cruise. Get your face painted, hear the story of the legend of Captain Memo the Pirate and do the Macarena all in a two hour cruise (727-446-2587).

Attend a Concert! - Under the stars in Coachman Park overlooking Clearwater Harbor on many weekends.  Also, please visit our list of "Upcoming Events" for the latest info on concerts and other special events. The Florida Orchestra plays it all, under the baton of Conductor Stephen Sanderling.( 813-286-1170).

Spike it! - You can attend the professional beach volleyball tournaments or get into your own pick-up game right on the beach.  Amateur or professional, they all come to Clearwater Beach to play.

Cheer For Your Team! - You can attend Spring Training games for the Philadelphia Phillies, the Toronto Blue Jays, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Tampa Bay Rays, the Tampa Bay Lightning, the Tampa Bay Mutiny, the Tampa Bay Storm and the Tampa Bay Terror all within a short distance of the beach.  And don't forget about the Clearwater Threshers  who can be cheered for all summer long. Be a Sport, Place a Bet  & Play Some Poker- Para-mutual wagering, poker and the excitement of being there in person and a fabulous  dinner buffet  too at  Derby Lane Greyhound Race Track and at Tampa Bay Downs.  

Pump Iron - Or meditate, play bridge, basketball, tennis or even take a line dance class at the Clearwater Beach Recreation Center. (727-462-6138). They also offer a full-size Aquatic Center pool and a children's pool for the enjoyment of visitors and residents alike.

Do What Comes Naturally! - Caladesi Island, the northern most tip of Clearwater Beach, is a state park accessible only by ferry, private boat, or by foot at low tide and is home to the  number 1 Best Beach in the United States. Hike trails through 3 miles of natural Florida wilderness, complete with local flora and fauna that lead to the beach. Pack a picnic, bring a book and a bag for sea shells.

For Swingers of all Ages - The beautiful Pier 60 Park complete with the Pier 60 Concession stand (727-461-7732)  and pavilion for staged events has swings, sliding boards, and other playground amenities in a natural setting at the entrance to the beach. 

Catch a Snook - Or a cobia or a sea trout, at Pier 60 Fishing Pier. One of Clearwater’s favorite fishing spots, the pier is open 7 days a week, 24 hours a day (except Christmas Day). The Pier offers a bait house with gear rental and sales, snacks and beverages as does The Bait House &Tavern at the east end of the marina. The bait house features an outdoor restaurant  that is also accessible by boat. 727-446-8134. No fishing license is required.

Tee Off - The Belleview Biltmore Golf Course (727-581-5498) is home to PGA Pro's Pat & Bill (727-480-9049) Tee off, play tennis, or even host your event at one of the of the areas finest courses, Lansbrook, (727-784-7333 ext. 2) . The Clearwater Country Club (727-446-9501)  is a semi-private par 72 golf course open to the public and is conveniently located near the beach.

Visit A Greek Village - Tarpon Springs, 20 minutes north, is an authentic Greek Sponge diving and fishing village, featuring Greek foods, shops, a museum, and sponge diving exhibitions.

Pamper Yourself! Sharmaines on North Clearwater Beach (727-447-2025) and  Antonio's Salon & Day Spa  (727-953-1651) on Sand Key are upscale full service Day Spas. The massage therapists at the Clearwater Beach Spa (727-461-7041) have that healing touch! Island Estates Hair & Nails (727.442.1550) features stylists trained in all the latest methods. The famous Safety Harbor Spa is just a short ride away. Ride the Jolley Trolley --(727-445-1200)  Fun to ride transportation for sightseeing and shopping. Stops every 30-35 minutes at routes along the beach, Island Estates and Sand Key,   The cost of each trip is $2.00. Seniors ride for $1.00, kids under 3 are free. www.clearwaterjolleytrolley.com.

Remember - To never let it happen again. The Tampa Bay Holocaust Memorial Museum and Educational Center in St. Petersburg has a profound effect on all who visit there. 

Celebrate the Sunset - Sunsets at Pier 60, a nightly festival of artists, crafters, clowns, street performers, musical concerts at the pavilion and much more attracts local residents and visitors alike.  The celebration begins 2 hours before sunset to 2 hours after sunset. Shop ‘till you Drop - Unique gifts, men's and women's clothing, swim wear, gold and diamonds, post cards, beach paraphernalia, souvenirs, and original works of art are available at the Bay Bazaar Plaza and shops up and down the beach, and on Sand Key and Island Estates (our neighboring islands). Key West Express on north Clearwater Beach (727-461-6462), is a tropical boutique! Resort & casual wear featuring the top name brands! No shoes needed!

The Clearwater area also offers many wonderful Malls to meet even the most discriminating tastes.  Choose from the all new Clearwater Mall at U.S.19 & Rt. 60 Westfield Countryside Mall on U.S.19, and Largo Mall on Ulmerton Rd.,The International Mall, minutes away in Tampa, offers all the well known upscale shops and trendy eateries. All malls are conveniently located within 30 minutes from the beach.  If you're into bargains, there are three huge indoor/ outdoor flea markets, Wagon Wheel Flea Market, 49er Flea Market, and Oldsmar Flea Market.  All are filled with new, used and collectible everything and are only 30 minutes or less from the beach.  

Hit a Hole in One - At Captain Bligh’s (727-461-9300).mini-golf overlooking the gulf. The whole family will enjoy this tropical pirate theme course with a video arcade and refreshments.  It's a fun outing for everyone.

MOSI!! - Come in and see all you can be at the Museum of Science & Industry.  MOSI offers more than 450 "minds-on" interactive activities, making science a real life adventure. Enjoy bioworks & butterfly garden, an engineered ecosystem that emulates natural wetlands and provides a natural habitat for butterflies. Cruise the Galaxy at the Saunders Planetarium, daily shows and weekend "star parties" (weather permitting). Conduct your own mission in a 21st century classroom with space station and mission control simulators at the GTE Challenger Learning Center, part of an international network of centers established by the families of the Challenger crew.

Go on a Safari! - Busch Gardens Theme Park (1-888-800-5447) an African Adventure filled with natural animal habitats, hair-raising roller coasters and water rides is just across the bay. This park is an adventure you will not want to miss.  It's second to none.

Become an Art Critic -or an Artist!  Dunedin Fine Art Center ( 727-298-3322) Take a class, visit the Gallery Gift Shop and the Children's Art Museum, view an exhibit. For a current schedule visit the website at www.dfac.org.  World famous, the Salvador Dali Museum, located in St. Petersburg, ranks as one of the top attractions in Florida receiving the highest rating by the Michelin Green Guide- the only such attraction on the west coast to be so honored. Daily tours of the museum’s fascinating collection will educate, yet entertain you, about one of the 20th century‘s greatest artists, Salvador Dali. Bewildering double images and incredible paintings, sculptures, holograms an art glass will amaze you; and early impressionist-style paintings and melting clocks will delight you.

Ruth Eckerd Hall - Richard B. Baumgardner Center for the Performing Arts. Since opening in 1983, more than 4 million people have attended performances at Ruth Eckerd Hall. This beautiful unique facility was designed by the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation, and is easily accessible from anywhere in the Bay Area. 

Add a Little Culture - The Museum of Fine Arts hosts a wealth of treasures in a Mediterranean villa setting. The elegant Palladian-style building combines the styles of a classic art museum and a Mediterranean villa at home in Florida’s tropical climate. The collection has more than 4,000 objects extending from antiquity to the present day. Lectures, tours, classes, films, and performing arts events enhance visitor’s understanding of the permanent collection, special exhibitions, and art and culture in general. 

Fire A Child's Imagination! - .at Great Explorations, A  Childs Museum. And if it doesn’t sound like any place you’ve been before, it’s for a good reason. It’s not. Great Explorations is a place for people of all ages to stretch their mental muscles; test their wits; and fire their imaginations. 

Decorate Your Tree - One of America’s largest and most beautiful Christmas stores is located in Clearwater.  Enter the magical forest with over 100 trees, animated scenes, pine scent and Christmas music. Remember Christmas past and tingle with the excitement of Christmas yet to come.  Here, everyday is Christmas.

Enjoy Bird Watching - The Suncoast Seabird Sanctuary is a refuge for as many as 500 injured, recuperating, and permanently crippled land and sea birds: brown pelicans, cormorants, white herons and various birds of prey. This sanctuary has become known worldwide for its dedication to the preservation of wildlife.  

Be an Olympic "Wannabe" - Train to be an Olympian, or just stay in shape. The Long Center offers Clearwater residents and its visitors a 50 meter Olympic size pool, a training pool, 3 in-door basketball courts, locker rooms, fitness room which includes cardio and weight training machines, a playground and meeting rooms.
